Candice Lynn Hutchinson, age 40, passed away at her home in Brooklyn, New York on April 2, 2024.

Candice was born in Brooklyn on December 20, 1983, to Teresa Lynn Brown and Granville “Blu” Hutchinson. As a child, the Brown-Hutchinson family that included her older brother Jason Hutchinson, moved to Staten Island, New York. Candice grew up hanging out with friends on Staten Island and in Brooklyn, including Jaime, Tiffany, Sheena, and Shaquana.

Candice was proud of her Jamaican heritage. She loved children, her family and spending quality time with loved ones. Candice was especially close to her grandparents, and eventually moved to Coney Island to care for her ailing maternal grandmother Millicent Brown, until she passed away in 2005. Candice loved spending time with her family at her Aunt Sharon and Uncle Henri’s cookouts on Staten Island. She loved to laugh and would often be heard scream-laughing with the family. She always made sure that pictures were taken, and often made sure that there was a family picture before the end of the night.

Candice graduated from Port Richmond High School in 2002. In 2010, she earned a degree in Medical Billing from Monroe College. Candice’s career consisted of jobs dedicated to helping people, including working with children and within the healthcare industry. She was highly regarded and well-liked by her peers.

Candice is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Millicent Almira Brown and Theodore “Poppy” Brown, and her paternal grandparents, Willamenia Hutchinson and George Hutchinson. She is also preceded in death by several other family members and friends, including her friend, Sheena Belle from Coney Island.

Candice Lynn Hutchinson is survived by her parents, Teresa Lynn Brown, and Blu Hutchinson, brother Jason Hutchinson (whom she affectionately called Jay-Boy), and sister Nateesha Saunders. She was especially close to (and deeply proud of) her beloved niece and nephew, Nyomi Hutchinson, Josiah “Jo Jo” Hutchinson, Alyssa Saunders and Philip Saunders. Candice or Candy as some of her loved ones call her is also survived by her uncle Mark Brown, who she regarded as a protector, and his wife, her aunt Tabitha Brown and Auntie Sharon. She was also close to her family from Queens, New York including her Aunt Dell (nee Hutchinson) and her husband Keith and Aunt Junie. Candice leaves behind a list of family members within the Brown, Hutchinson, and Singleton families - including a long list of cousins, aunts, and uncles. Candice also had several beloved godchildren and a host of close friends that will continue to live in her legacy.

Candice Lynn Hutchinson had a beautiful heart, strong personality, and lived life on her terms. She was a woman of faith whose memories will continue to impact the lives of everyone she encountered.
